“When my wife was accepted to a study-abroad program in Poitiers, France I tagged along and we had a marvelous experience living in a foreign country for six months as a newly married couple. It was here in Poitiers that I learned the power of going for walks together as a married couple.
Due to the size and age of the city of Poitiers most everyone walks to get around. Being foreigners on a limited budget we embraced the concept and walked a lot in the small town to run errands. It was during these walks that my wife and I filled the time talking about various things. Over time our conversations began to commonly revolve around more personal and important issues.
These walks enabled us to spend time together and talk about our relationship, goals, and problems which has strengthened our marriage and brought us closer together. Walks have now become a routine activity for us to keep the line of communication open to resolve differences, plan for the future, and talk out any problems we’re having.”
