“In 2017 I had a few months off and decided to go travel in South America. The first two months my best friend joined me to backpack through Peru and Colombia, but after those months she had to go back to work and I continued traveling solo through Costa Rica. During these months I learned two important lessons. First of all I learned something about myself as I discovered that I can easily and happily travel alone: I love meeting new people, learn about new cultures and I am not afraid of new situations.
The second lesson I learned is way more impactful and is something that changed the way I live. Traveling through South America, Colombia especially, showed me that even though people have little money or live a poor and simple life, they seem to have the biggest joy in life I had ever seen. While at the same time, people from rich countries (like my own) seem to have lost joy in life because they attach too much value to money and being a hot shot. My European passport is my golden ticket to life and gives me all the opportunities I would want to live the life I want. This journey thought me to use this golden ticket wisely and appreciate life to its fullest.”
