Everyone Was Happy!
I came across a wonderful sight one day in Cusco, Peru:
An Indian woman, in her full traditional dress, was standing with her “partner” _ a full-grown llama, on a path that ran alongside of the beautiful, precision -cut stone wall of an ancient temple, built by her Inca ancestors. As she posted for my camera_ and of course I was prepared to compensate her for the shot, her llama began munching happily on a patch of greenery that was growing from between two of the vast building stones.
So was everyone delighted?
The government would have been glad to have the grass destroyed because Inca stones are not held together by line or mortar and weeds can fracture the precious, ancient wall. Thanks to the hungry animal, no human would have had to be paid to eradicate the dangerous grass.
The llama was happy to have a good fresh lunch.
And his keeper wasn’t forced to purchase greens for the beast.
And I got a great photo and a wonderful story!
